Iam an Indian National holding Indian passport but currently working in Switzerland -Lausanne in a L Permit. I need to visit Mainland China for a business trip. Is it possible for me to apply for a shorttrip business visa for a week, in Bern China embassy? And what documents should I bring in person to apply for the same?

It is possible for you to apply for China business visa from China embassy in Bern. You need to bring your passport and its copy, one passport photo, completed visa application forms V.2011A and V.2011B, L permit and its copy, invitation letter from China side, the confirmation of round-trip flight tickets and hotel servation.
