About:

Hi There,

I need to take a high speed train from Shanghai to Nanjing train station.
I need to make a return trip on the same day, is it possible, if so where from. I''ll be staying in Pudong, Shanghai.
Can I buy the ticket at the hotel?
Please help.

You can take the high speed train either from Shanghai Railway Station or Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Nanjing Railway Station. It is OK for you to make a return trip on the same day. Usually, the hotel can help you to book the train ticket, but I think you have no need to book it. You can buy the ticket at the train station.
