Hi, I am on a work visa in China for the past 6 months and I want to invite two friends to visit me for 3 weeks in China in June-July 2011. Besides the documents listed below , the visitors are supposed to submit a letter from a Chinese government department / ministry to the chinese embassy. Could you please tell me from which ministry/department I can get this letter and what should it say and in which language -chinese or english? I am in suzhou, Jiangsu province. I have sent the following documents to my friends:1.  personal invitation letters from me for the visitors, 2. a stamped letter from my employer confirming my employment with them for 2 years and my salary, 3. Foreign workers certificate (copies)4. My passport and visa copiesSince my friends are in Lahore , and I am in Suzhou, both far away from the capital cities and the embassy, we cannot easliy get the above information through phone calls. I would appreciate your advice in this matter

You can go to Suzhou Foreign Affairs Office to try to get an official invitation letter issued by this authorized government.

thank you so much. The company I am employed at called up the Foreign Affairs Department and were informed they have no such letter or form to give. Similar inquiries at the Chinese consulate in Pakistan were made. They were of the opinion that first they would have to prove thier relationship with the invitor ( host - that is me) and second that my company should send an inviation letter. Now,I cannot establish - they are relatives from the maternal side , our last names are from the paternal side; second how does one invite friends? And the other point is that why should my company / employer invite my friends/relatives? How can ordinary tourists get visas Any further advice?
