About:Chinese Embassy in Russia

I am living and working in Irkutsk, Russia, and am wanting to visit a friend in Beijing for 5 days. Do I need a visa? If so, do I need to visit the embassy in Moscow, or is there somewhere in Irkutsk that I can work through? What is the process for application, as I work in a very remote location and am not likely to be back in Irkutsk before I was planning on travelling

I have both New Zealand and Australian passports

Thanks

Irkutsk is under the consular jurisdiction of Consulate General of China in Khabarovsk, you need to go to Khabarovsk to apply for China visa. There is not china consulate in Irkutsk. It takes 5 working days for visa processing, the requirements are your passport, filled visa application forms V.2011A and V.2011B, one passport photo, hotel booking and round-trip flight tickets booking, your Russian residence permit and its copy.
