Iam planning to Travel to Shanghai and then change planes within 4 hours from the same airport and terminal in Shanghai for Taipei. Do i need a Transit visa or i would be able to make the transfer without a transit visa. Can anybody explain the procedure?

You do not need a transit visa if you do not go out of the airport. You need to accept the immigration check. If you hold separate tickets, you also need to claim your luggage and recheck in it. Then go to the international CIQ Area, awaiting departure.

Oh. after getting your boarding pass, you have no need to return to the immigration counters again. You can directly go to the boarding gate to take your flight.
