I had been to Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau with my family. The key in locating halal restaurants is to ask the local people. They are usually very helpful. Ask then for Muslim Restaurant and the native will prompt you where the locations are. I am currently in Beijing(2nd visit) and will leave on this Saturday, 26 Mar 2011. I usually look for the restaurants with Green Sign board and most of the halal restaurants usually have green signboard unlike traditional chinese restaurants which usually are in red. Along Wangfujing Street there are stalls set up nightly. Not less than 3 stalls are Muslim stalls. The first time I was in Beijing, when I was in the area, I asked one of the stall where can I get Muslim food. They not only showed me where but literally brought me to the restaurant which is on the 5th florr of the shopping mall at the junction of the Wangfujing. Happy searching.
