About:Chinese Consulate in New York

To whom it may concern:

My question is about retiring in mainland China. Both my Chinese parents were born and grew up in Guangdong Province, China. They immigranted to the U.S. and had me. I was born in U.S., so naturally I am a U.S. citizen. Now that I am of retiremnet age, I wish to, or am contemplating retiring in Guangdong, China. I can speak the Hoisan dialect fluently, but I do not have a man at present in mind for marriage. My question is can a U.S. born Chinese citizen retire in China without first getting married to a Chinese National? I have nothing against marriage, I just haven't found anyone in China yet. email: yahoo.com|abclkj Mabel Lin

You can try to apply for a China resident visa (D), But it is very hard to get nowadays. If you are not going to marry with a Chinese, you are eligible to apply for a long term L visa only if you are age 60 or over, and buy a residence in China, possibly a 12 or 24-month multiple entry visa. Note that there are prerequisites for being able to buy a property in China as well.
