About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

I am planning a trip to Europe for several months but want to spend a few weeks in China on my way home. Am I able to apply for a visa at the consulate in Germany? As I wont be able to apply for one before I leave Australia because it would expire before I would be able to use it.

It's true that you can't apply for China visa before you leave Australia because it will expire before you use it. You can try to apply for a visa at the consulate in Germany, but it is not 100% to get it in Germany. Sometimes, China embassies/consulates refuse to issue visa to temporary visitors in a country.
