About:Chinese Consulate in San Francisco

Hello,

My wife and I have a 23 hours layover in Shanghai Pudong Airport and we have an expired multiple chinese visa. Having a U.S. passport and an airline ticket back to Los Angeles as transit passenger, are we required to have a visa to check in a hotel near the airport? Thank you so much for the information.

Ben
