About:

We want to ride a bullet train from Shanghai to a close city that will travel fast and then return. We would like to do the entire trip in four hours including brief look around in the destination city. Where should we go and what station do we leave from

You can take bullet tran from Shanghai to Hangzhou which takes about one hour and then spend 2 hours in hangzhou for a general look. Then back from Hangzhou Railway Station to Shanghai with the bullet train.
