About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Hi,
My wife is a Chinese passport holder with Australian PR.
Her passport expires in May 2011. I understand from this website that she can no longer apply for an extension of this passport (as was previously the case), but needs to apply for a new one instead.
We live in Adelaide, and their is no Chinese consulate here.
My questions are:
(1) Does she need to apply in person at an interstate consulate or the Embassy in Cenberra?
(2) If not, and she can apply via posting documents, what documents does she need?
(3) What form does she need to fill in, and where can we download this form?
(4) Late last year, my wife read in the local Chinese newspaper that there was some service that visited Adelaide periodically and provided Visa/passport services for China (ie a bit like a travelling Consul). Is/was this the case and do you have any more details?
Thanks

She should submit her application to Embassy of China in Canberra. The documents she needs are as follows:
1. an application form for Chinese passport; the form is available from the official website of Chinese embassy in Canberra. (the details are in Chinese version)
2. one photo, 48mm×33mm with white or blue background;
3. original and copy of her old passport;
4. copy of passport information page and the page with Australian visa or residence ID;
If she can not go there in person, mail service is acceptable, she needs to provide a postage paid and well addressed envelope for mail-back. and also an affirmance letter from an appointed one of the two China organizations in South Australia:
* ph: 08-84457355 add: 110 Crittenden Rd, Findon SA 5023
* ph: 08-82122988 add: 222 Grote Street, Adelaide SA 5000
Consular officers of Chiense embassy had visited Adelaide on Jan.28 for passport service, and no more notice has released yet.

Hi Ms Enid,

Thanks for your response.
With regards to your final paragraph, mentioning that Chinese Consular officers visited Adelaide on 28th January. Do you know from whom we can find out more about these visits? For example, some of the things we'd like to find out are who arranges/organises the visits, which location in Adelaide do the officers work from, what are the fees and when is the likely next visit?

Thanks.

Oh, for visit time, you'd better contact Chinese consulate. visit of consular service is periodic but to didfferent cities, I am not sure if they will have one in near future in Adelaide. Sorry for that.
