I am planing my free and easy trip to beijing during chinese new year 2011, we stay 3 nights in novotel hotel xinqiao, from my hotel to tiananman square, forbbiden city, summer place , use taxi or subway better ? our groups is 8 persons, or rent a van better, please advise . we also like to visit hutong, how to go they ? how far from my hotel, near my hotel got fast food restaurent or not,like KFCBest regardsFLORA

The places you mentioned are all in the downtown area, so it is very easy to get there by public transportation. Taking taxi is the most convenient way, but i think you will need to hire 2 or 3 taxies. Fast food restaurants are very very easy to be found in Beijing, especially KFC, you do not need to worry about it.
