About:Shanghai Flights

I'm booking flights to Japan and it looks as if there will be a layoff of 14hrs in Shanghai Pudong International. Will I be permitted to leave the airport during that time and would I need a visa?

Normally, visa is not required for Australia passport holders, who transit through Shanghai Pudong Airport or Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and going out of the airport in Shanghai for less than 48 hours. For more details, you may visit China Transit Visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/transit.htm) for reference.
