About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I'll be traveling as a tourist to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing in April 2011. Since I have a US passport and will be traveling for a shorter duration than 90 days, will I need to get a HK visa?

Also, since I'll be going to multiple parts of China will I need a multiple entry visa or just a single entry visa?

Thank you for your help.

You don't need a visa to Hong Kong because USA passport holders are exempt from a visa to Hong Kong for up to 90 days. A single entry visa is sufficient if you go to Mainland China once no matter how many places you visit within Mainland China. However, if your trip is Mainland China - Hong Kong/Macau - Mainland China - Hong Kong/Macau - Mainland China, you need a multiple entry. Hong Kong and Macau apply different exit & enter controls from Mainland China, go to Hong Kong/Macau means exit, return to Mainland China from HK/Macau means a new entry. In addition, you can read the Tour including Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong on China Tour Itinerary(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/tour/memorable/)
