About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

I have been invited to the wedding of some Chinese friends in their city of Qingdao, China. From there they have asked me to travel with them to visit their families and other places of interest throughout China. Can I purchase airline tickets once I get to china for this additonal travel within the country, or must I have them ahead of time and purchased here in the states? Are tickets less expensive if purchased ahead of time, as is the case here in the USA? Is their any important advice I should know about before I travel. My friends are young people, not very used to airline travel. We think our travels will take us from Qingdao to Xinjiang and then on to Jiuzhai Gou. They are planning an wedding some time in October, 2011. Thank you for your help and advice!

yes, you can purchase airline tickets once you arrive in China for this additional travel within China. You don't need to purchase the flight tickets in the united states. It's true that the tickets are less expensive if you buy them in advance, you can buy the tickets 2 or 3 months before the trip in China. In addition, you can read China Silk Road Tours(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/tour/silk_road/) to plan your trip in vast Xinjiang including Urumqi, Turpan, Kashgar, Korla, Kuqa and Aksu. It is a good idea to visit Jiuzhaigou Valley(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/sichuan/jiuzhaigou/page1.htm) which is beautiful beyond description
