About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

Hello. I need your advice.

I will simply be passing through Shanghai Pudong on my way to Malaysia (originating from the USA). My flight arrives in terminal 2 via American Airlines and leaves from terminal 1 via China Eastern Airlines. I have roughly five hours between flights.

Can someone please tell me what procedure I will need to take in order to make this international transfer run smoothly? Will I need to claim my bags and then recheck them? I've read there is an international transfer hall in terminal 2 which leads me to believe that my bags will automatically be transferred between airlines. Is this true?

Please walk me through my scenario. Thank you, kindly.

There are nine counters to handle the transfer and transit service in the central part of the international arrival concourse. You need to accept the immigration check and then claim your luggage and recheck it. After arranging the boarding check, take the dedicated elevator up to the international CIQ Area, awaiting departure (minimum time duration about 29 minutes).
