About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I am currently in Shanghai, China. I have a double entry Chinese visa that allows me to remain in mainland China for only 30 days at a time and then I must leave the country and re-enter for the second 30-day period of my visa (total of 60 days).
I would like to find out if I can extend my 30-day visa to 3-months (90 days) now that I am in China with stil a double entry visa.
Also, if it is not possible to extend the 30-day visit time for individual entries, are there any restrictions or waiting period to renew my visa immediately once I have used the total 60-days. I got my visa in Hong Kong.
Your earliest reply is appreciated.

Kind regards,
Christian Martenson

It is possible for you to extend your 30 days visa to 90 days visa at Shanghai Exit & Enter Department, however, the double entry visa will become 0 entry. In fact, when you apply for extension of stay duration within Mainland China, you will be issued a new Chinese Visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa.htm) with 0 entry, your present visa automatically expires.

You can stay for 30 days in China, then go to Hong Kong or Macau, then return to Mainland China for second 30 days stay duration, when the stay duration for second entry will expires, you can go to Shanghai Exit & Enter Department to apply for extension.
