About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

My 90 day stay in China will end about January 26 2011. I am married to chinese woman, and I qualify for residency permit for one year. How long does it generally take to actually receive the permit? Because I do not want my visa to run out before I get the residency permit. China has now relaxed regulations for permits for those who have family in China; and it is easier to get the permit and just renew it every year, and is considered as good as a visa. It saves doing visa runs to Hong Kong.I want to get to the exit entry Bureau soon to get the process going if necessary.I appreciate your advice. Have a nice day Best regards, David

Hi, David, don't worry, when your residence permit processed in the local PSB, they will issue you a receipt to stay even if your visa is going to expire. (but make sure it is valid when you submit your application to them) Or, you can go there 5 days before it runs out.
