About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I am currently attending school in China and have a temporary resident permit that expires at the end of January. I would like to discontinue my studies, but stay in China through April as a tourist. Is it possible to easily change my temporary resident permit back into a 90 day tourist visa once it expires without leaving? I have a US passport.

Ms.Smith, the temporary resident permit can not be changed to a tourist visa in local PSB. They will issue you a new visa instead, generally, for 10 days to leave China. If you want a 3 months tourist visa, you can apply for it in Hong Kong.
