About:China Visa Exemption

I am a US Citizen who is currently working and living in Seoul Korea. I want to go to Shanghai for no more then 4days during Lunar New Year. Do I need a Visa? My friend was told that there is a new rule effective 12/1/10 about not needing a visa is this true?

thank you.
