About:Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles

I am an American citizen married to a Chinese national currently applying for a Chinese residence permit. As part of the application process, I am required to go to my local police station in the US and obtain a document stating that I do not have a criminal background. According to our foreign administration department of the police bureau here in China, I am then required to take this document to the Chinese Consulate in the US and you will issue me a "Certificate of no Criminal Records". Is this proceedure correct? I plan to travel to the US in January to get this done.

regards,
Tim Hawkes

Mr.Tim hawkes, you have to provide the documents what they deem necessary. It is reasonable anyway.

The procedure is correct, please go to your local police station in US to get a Certificate of No Criminal Records, then go to Secretary of the State Office of the state where you live to apply for authentication, at last, go to the correct Consulate General of China which holds consular jurisdiction over your area of residence to apply for authentication.
