About:China Travel Tips

Dear Sir, Madam,

We are planning our holiday in China from April 19th till May 10th. We are a family of 5 persons. 2 adults and 3 children (7, 5 and 4 years old). We would like to take the train from beijing to Xian and Xian to Chengdu. We heard the trains can be fully booked sometimes and we wonder if we can book them in advance. We prefer the hardsleeper because we need 5 beds and we read the softsleeper has only 4. Do children pay the full price or is there a discount for them?

We like to hear from you soon.

Best Regards, Chantal van Doorn

For some festivals, you may have big problem in buying the train tickets in early May. For kids, one adult can bring one kid below 11cm tall for free, but the kid should share one bed with you. If they want their own bed, need to pay the costs. It should have discounts on children from 110-150cm tall, not according to their age, however, how much discounts, it depends. I recommend a ticket booking tool for you, China Train Schedule(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/) , you can check timestables, price available and they offer direct ticket booking service.
