About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

I am Irish, I am thinking of traveling to China, and then to Thailand in the next couple of weeks. Currently I am living in South Korea and I am hoping to get a boat from Incheon to Tianjin. If I want to get a plane from Shanghi to Bangkok a couple weeks later do I need to buy that ticket before I enter China? Also, how long does it take to process a tourist visa?

You'd better buy the ticket from Shanghai to Bangkok because it maybe required by visa officer to prove you will leave China on time. It takes 4 working days for processing tourist visa application.
