About:Transfer in T3 of Beijing Capital Airport

Do I need a visa at Beijing Capital Airport for the flight layover and do I need to go through custom to pick up luggage?

Hello,

I am going to VietNam via Bejiing. I will be arriving on American Airlines on terminal ?? at 15:30 and will take the Vienam Airlines the next day at 15:34 (less than 26Hours); 1. do I need a visa? 2. do I need to go through custom to pick up my lugages; 3. how do I get to my next airline? and 4. how do I re-check in for my next flight. Thanks so much in advance for your assistance.

To MS. AMYP, yes, you could do so once arrive at T3. Hold your valid passport and boarding pass to next flight, explain your situation to the staff at Immigration, usually, he/she will let you get into the terminal building.
Ps: this policy may be cancelled during some events or festival while large quantity travellers flow into China, such as the current Asian Games.

Dear Andy, I'm afraid you need a visa since you'll stay at Beijing Airport for more than 24 hours, although it is only 4 minutes longer.
And if you already have the onward boarding pass then you don't need to pass the customs but if you don't have one, you need to pass the customs and check your luggage then recheck in to the next flight.
American Airlines is in T3 Terminal building while Vietnam Airlines is in T2 Terminal Building, you need to take free shuttle bus from T3 to T2, the bus will pick up and drop off at T2: outside Gate 9 to 11 F1,T3: Gate 5 F1.

I'm sorry to jump on this thread, but if I may ask Ms Summerling please, does it mean that if the transit time is less than 24 hours, then I will be able to go into the main Beijing airport terminal, without a visa, please? I have 5 hours of transit time at terminal 3 and I would like to go out of the transit waiting area into the main terminal building, to meet up with my Chinese friend, while I wait for my next flight. Would this be possible please?
