About:Shanghai Pudong Airport

I'm going to travel Paris-Sydney via Shangai next December. I have 12 hours in Shangai Pudong Airport between flights. I have australian visa, passport and boarding card. Can I leave the airport without Chinese visa to visit the city or I can only be without it if I stay in the airport?

Thank you very much!
