About:Chinese Consulate in Chicago

Greetings, I have a USA perminent residency card, but I would like to return to China to live. I am currently in China, but I am having trouble proving I am a Chinese citizen. I was born in China, married here, and have family memebers here. My spouse died here. How do I go about proving I am Chinese without having to come back to the USA to see the Chinese consolate there? I feel like I don't have citizenship anywhere. Please help me. Thank you.
