I will be travelling to Tokyo from China next month for a trip, and want to get a new Chinese visa at the embassy in Tokyo. Is it possible for a non-Japan resident and person from UK to apply in Tokyo? Also is same day service available and what is the total cost for a double entry?

Are you sure, the post below says

"If you are a short-time visitor there (less than 90 days), you need to provide the valid Entry Record and its copy. But if you if you reside in Japan for a long time, you need the Alien Registration Card."

Which suggests that you only need to show the entry stamp of your passport

Could someone please confirm?

You are required to provide the Certificate of alien registration, with the period of more than half a year if you want to apply China visa in Japan. What in your below post is old policy.

Chinese embassy in Japan requires the Certificate of alien registration, with the period of more than half a year in Japan for China visa application. So, you can not apply there.
