About:Jiuzhaigou National Park

Hi..I've booked a trip to JZG departing Malaysia on 26 October 2010. We have planned to travel by bus from Chengdu to JZG.

However, last week (6 Oct 2010) my Malaysian tour agent informed me that the road from Chengdu-JZG is still closed to tour buses and my trip may be cancelled due to that.

I'm really dissappointed because I'm really looking forward to the trip.

Can anyone update me on when the road will be opened to tour buses?

Do we have to wear winter clothings to JZG by end of October?

Thanks.

The road from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou has be open for a while and there is more than one road connection to go there. So, you should confirm this information to the agent for this. The temperature is 10-20 degree right now. Cooler in the end of this month. So, you need to prepare some warm clothes.

Hi Ms Ng,
I am also Ng (but male la, hahah).
In fact I will be traveling to Jiuzhaigou BEFORE you do.
Accordingly, what we initially planned was to go to JZG if the roads are re-opened.My other contacts also assured us that the road has been re-opened. Basically there are two main routes there - one through the ancient dam Dujiangyan and the other through on the esstern side. Supposedly, as informed, the Dujiangyan route is still going through extensive repair works due to the earlier earthquake damages and the recent weather abberations. However, the eastern route seems passable.

True of not I will be there to find out. But then dont be disappointedif you cant go to JZG this time. My Plan B is to go to Chongqing if I am unable to proceed to JZG. In CQ, there are also many tings to see, places to visit and cuisine to enjoy.

Look on the bright side - if you cant go this time, you will have yet another chance to revisit in the future...

Anyway, if you can drop me your personal email address I will update you while or after my trip there.

Hope this is helpful,

Thank you very much, Ms Cindy & Mr Ng, for your helpful reply.

I will call up my agent again and clarify with them on this matter. Hopefully, I'll get some good news & I'll remember to bring loads of warm clothings.

My plan B would be to Yunnan but there's not much tours that include Shangrila, a place I'd really like to visit too.

To Mr Ng, hope you'll enjoy your trip to JZG. Hope you can update us all on your trip through this site.

Hi Ms Ng,
My pleasure.
If you need advice in other areas, please feel free to contact me.
It is all FOC...cos it is great to share experiences.
Was working in China 3 years and did learn much about traveling here and it is always more rewarding - though not cheaper - as we could do whatever we like or go wherever we wish and for how long we like.
Will update you accordingly.
Take care

Hi Ms Ng,
Good to be back.
Great trip.
Good news is the road to JZG from CD and vice versa is OPEN! Bus tickets are easily available both ways. I took the bus from XINNANMEN bus station and bought the return ticket at JZG bus station when I arrived there.
Weather in CD is warm relatively to that in JZG; check the weather at any convenient weather forecast website for both cities.
The bus trip CD-JZG took only 9 hrs (uneventful). The return took a gruelling 14hr journey - we were stopped by some uniformed gentleman who seemed adamant in compounding our drivers, then we had to make our way slowly through a bunch of rock slides (obviously occurring after we arrived at JZG) and then an accident between 2 lorries blocking the entire road for 3.5hrs.
JZG is really really very very nice- I think my trip was a little too early, yours should be better timed for the leaves to turn even more colourful.
ENJOY!!!

Hi Ms.Ng,

how was it in JiuZhaiGou when you went? I'm really keen to know what you saw there because I'm going there on the 16th! I hope it's really colorful when I reach there!
