About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

I am an American citizen currently in South Korea (short-term).
Is there a way I can get a Chinese visa to visit Beijing while in Korea if I don't have a Korean alien registration card?
If I go to Hong Kong, can I get the Chinese visa at the embassy there?
Is there any way I can get to Beijing without having to go back to US first to get the Chinese visa?
Thank you very much for your help.

There are two ways for you to apply for a visa to China. 1. send all your application and needed requirements back to US, let your family to apply on your behalf. But never mention you are not in US now. 2. You just can apply in Hong Kong, where few reasonable applicants was denied to get visas.
