Hi, we are planning a trip from Hong Kong to Hengyang by train around late October 2010. Is there any direct train service from Hong Kong to Hengyang? If not, do I need to change train at Guangzhou? Do I need to change train station at Guangzhou as well? If yes, then how far away are the two train stations? What options of transportation between the two train stations do we have? What will be the total cost approximately?Thanks!

There is no direct train from Hong Kong to Hengyang, you can take train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and then take train from Guangzhou to Hengyang. The train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou will arrive at Guangzhou East Railway Station and then bullet train to Hengyang depart from Guangzhou South Railway Station, you can take Subway Line 3 to Dashi Subway Station(大石), and then take taxi to Guangzhou South Railway Station, there are trains to Hengyang from 07:00 to 19:20. The transportation will costs around CNY5.
