About:China Great Wall

I saw that some walls are built on very steep mountain ridges. I just wonder how the stones or bricks were carried there, only by using of manpower? I understand that it is impossible for horses to climb the steep mountains.

I red short stories on this site that people have used iced path and goats to convey stones.
