About:Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas

Mr. Manny,

Thanks for the reply. Now for some detailed questions.

We want to backpack with our tent and food and sleeping bag for 6-7 days. We do not want any tourist places. In fact we hope to not see people the entire time. We just want to enjoy nature without man made things for all those days.

We hope to find backpacking for 5-6 hours each day. Ending each day near some lake or river. I read about 99 Dragon Pools in LaoJun Shan. have you done that hike?

1. What temperatures on LaoJun Shan Oct 25-Nov 15???

2. What are temperatures on Jade Dragon for that time?

Are there also good backpacking/camping trails for Jade Dragon. We don't want the cable car. We want to hike for several days.

If you have trails information that you can recommend for both these places that would be great.

Mr. H

There will be less travelers at that time, but it seems not possible not seeing people the entire time. You can go along the routes that the travlers will not follow. Sometimes, a local guide is necessary. That's okay if you can trail by your own. I have never done the hiking. Rather than climbing mountains, I would like the trial from South Gansu to Jiuzhaigou. It is said that the scenery is very beautiful along the way. Well, back to our topic. From 99Dragon Pool - Aluo Haizi lake - Taohua Village, scenery is good. You can go to Jinsichang to see sun rise too. It is going to snow at the middle or end of November. So, it will be not warm in early November. The average temperature can be 11 degrees, but colder in the mountain as the altitude is higher and higher. Jade Dragon Mountain is similar. It will be below zero at night in the mountain. If you want to climb Jade Dragon Mountain, you can get to Yuhu Village first. This is a trail at the back of the mountain and less people. There are three camping bases from the village to 5300 meters above the sea level. One thing is not good. You should also pay some monkey for hiking there.

I found a trial good in Novermber for your reference about Laojunshan: Lijiang - Shitou Township - 99dragon pool - Aluo Haizi - Taohua - Liju Village - Sanchahe - Fengwu Shanzhuang for one night - Jinsichang-Jinsi Yufeng (Golden Threads Jade Peak) - Zimei Lake - Liju Village - Back to Lijiang. If you have 6-7 days, laojunshan is better choice.
