About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Hello. I have been in the states as of July 16, 2010. I have been currently waiting for my paperwork to go through with my current employer in Shenyang, to receive my work permit and invitation. I received both in an email two days ago. I went to the Chinese embassy here in Los Angeles, where the worker told me that I needed my original copy. I tried to explain I am not sure how I am going to get my original mailed to me since I my flight leaves back to China this Tuesday August 16th. Can you give me any advice on what I can do in this situation? Do you know of any rush deliverys that can take place from China to Los Angeles? I was informed that I can receive my visa that same day if I arrive at 11am. I am hoping to receive the paperwork before Monday morning, and really pushing I can wait till Tuesday morning, since I don't leave until late Tuesday evening. Please if you have any suggestions on what to do, or if I can apply for a different visa. I arrive in China last December on a L visa, which was changed into a F visa and extended. I am not sure if I would be able to apply for another L visa, and get my work permit in Hong Kong. Thanks in advance for your help.

Heather

Ms.Heather, it's true that the China Consulate in Los Angeles provide the same day pick-up service if you submit visa application before 11:00 am. But the requirements for work visa application should be prepared, such as the work permit and invitation letter, if you can't the original copy, you can have a try to apply for L visa, then change L visa into work visa within Mainland China, however, sometimes, you can't change L visa into Z visa directly.

Hi Heather,

I just wondered what you ended up doing. I'm in the same situation. My company wants me to get a Z visa but the time is too short for them to mail me the paperwork. I think I'm going to get an L visa and then change it to a Z after I arrive in China. I called a company and they said that you can do that and you don't have to leave china. (it just costs more money). Please let me know the outcome of your situation. Thank you.
