About:Guangzhou Travel Guide

Hi: My wife and I will be arriving at the Guangzhou International Airport on 20 Sep 2010. We'll stay in Jian Li Harmony Hotel, which is near Guangzhou East Railway Station (GERS). We'll check out early on 22 Sep 2010 and want to take Train from GERS to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Our flight departing HKIA is scheduled for 11:30PM on 22 Sep 2010. I'm searching for a best train transportation from GERS to HKIA. I was advised that I have two choices to take a train to HKIA. One route is to take a Express Train from GERS through ShenZhen and LouHo to HKIA. Another choice is to tak a train from GERS directly to Kowloon Hung Hom Station and then take an Airport Bus from Hung Hom Station to HKIA. Could you please advise which route is better, cheaper and shorter? Could you also provide details as to where and how I can purchase or reserve train tickets few days in advance? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Both way are easy to reach the airport, but since the Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train ticket is more expensive than the train from Guangzhou to Shenzhen, I think you can take the first route, when you arrive at Luo Hu boarder, take East Rail Line to Sheung Shui and take Bus A43 to the airport. This way would cost around HKD100 for each of you, if you take direct train to Hung Hom and then bus to HKIA, it would cost around HKD400. There is a ticket booking hotline for Guangzhou East Raiway Station but I'm afraid its in Chinese, anyway, trains from Guangzhou East to Shenzhen are bullet trains, ticket of bullet trains is easy to get.

Thanks so much for your prompt responses. Your info is very valuable to us. Just a follow up question, if you don't mind. Once I arrive at Shenzhen, can I walk to Luo Hu station to catch the East Rail Line to Sheung Shui and that Bus A43 is also within walking distance from Sheung Shui Station? Can I easily purchase tickets at Luo Hu Station? How often the train departs from Luo Hu Station to HKIA? Also, am I correct to assume that I will exit China Immigration and Customer at Shenzhen Rail Station and enter Hong Kong Immigration and Customer at Luo Hu Station before boarding the train? Thanks in advance!

Hi Sir, your understanding is right that after go through the two immigrations, you could catch on the East Rail train quickly. The train is frequent, so just purchase the ticket on the spot. And the bus A43 is also located in the walking-distance.
