I am a British citizen, will be on holiday in Malaysia next month. Can I apply for a Chinese tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur? I do not have a long term Malaysian visa or residence.

It is possible for you to apply for Chinese tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur, but I can't 100% sure that you can get a visa. You'd better apply for China visa in UK. It is easy for UK citizens to get a China visa in UK.
