About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

I'm a US citizen living and teaching in South Korea for a year. I read that I MUST obtain a Chinese tourist visa through a travel agency if I am residing in South Korea. (I have already bought my tickets to Beijing, on a side note.) Do I still need to apply in person at the Chinese Embassy in Seoul or does the agency do it for me? Also, how much does an agency cost?

Yes, you have to find yourself a travel agency which is designated by the Consular Section of the Chinese Embassy. The cost may differ in agencies, here is a list of this agencies in the official website of Chinese Embassy in South Korean (in Korean ersion): http://www.chinaemb.or.kr/chn/lsqz/ls_qz/ls_qz_13/t229558.htm

The travel agency will do that for you. By the way, I forget to tell you that non-koreans who want to apply for visas to China, he/she must provides the alien registration card in South Korea valid for more than 6 months.
