About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

Hello,

I'm a US citizen living in South Korea on an A-3 Visa. I went to a travel agency today to apply for a Chinese tourist visa (I'm planning on going in August), but the travel agent told me that I could not get one because I do not have an Alien Registration Card. Apparently starting this week, Americans must submit their Alien Registration Card along with the application in order to get a visa. Because of the nature of my A-3 (it's a diplomatic exchange visa), I don't have this sort of card. Would a verification letter from the organization that's sponsoring my visa work instead?

Thank You!

Sorry, sir, you can only get an Alien Registration first. We must follow the requirements if we want to get a visa from the consulor.
