Hi, I am a French citizen who is studying in China since 10 months. I have a residence permit of 1 year which is going to expire on july 15th 2010. Actually, i'd like to stay in China until august 15th 2010.However, i'm planning to travel in South Korea mid-july. So i was thinking to get a new visa for China in South Korea. Is it possible ? And which kind o visa could i get ? Because one of my korean friend told me that the situation is really complicated for French people (that it could take 2 weeks to get the new visa). Morever, he told me that we have to give a lot of papers and do medical examinations. is it true?Thanks in advance !

Mrs.Cha, you can apply for a new visa in south korea. bcz you want to stay in China until August 15th, and if you do not want to enter China in a short period, a L visa is Ok. for the application procedure, it depends mostly on the regulation, and an L visa is more likely easy to get.

Hey Mrs. Cha,I just wanted to warn you that the visa laws seem to have changed in the past few days for foreigners applying for Chinese visas in South Korea.  There have been a number of posts above about people who have to cancel their China trips because of the issues, including myself.When I talked to my travel agent about my problems (you can't just go to the Chinese embassy in Seoul and apply for a visa, you have to go through an agency), she made a mention about how the agencies in Korea can't even apply for visas for French citizens here.  She had no explanation for why, but that seems to be the case.Of course, I can't a guarantee that that's valid information, but the short of it is don't expect to get a visa while in Korea.
