My family and I (4 to 5 adults) are planning a trip to China between 15th and 30th July, covering Beijing (4 days), Xian (2 days), Shanghai (4 days), Hong Kong   Macau (3 days). Please guide me regarding the following:1. Please suggest good 3 star hotels, centrally located, so that we can easily move to all places of interest? What are the room rates on twin sharing basis?2. Do we need to book tours locally in each of these places? or can we travel by public transport on our own?3. What is the weather in each of these places? max / min temperature? rain?4. We want to travel from Beijing to Xian by train. What are the timings, fare?5. Where can we get detailed tourist brochures about all the places of interest, how to get there, etc.Thank you.

Beijing and Xian are both famous for history and culture. If you don't know much about Chinese, you'd better book the tour with a local travel company and hire a guide with you. For Shanghai, HK and Macau, you can tour on your own. The transportation and signs in English are very convenient. There should be no problem.
