About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

My 21 year old son will be in China on a student visa. I want to send my 18 year old son to visit for one week, at the end of study, on a visitor/tourist visa. They want to travel from Beijing to Shanghai. Do I need to have a contact in China to list on the visa application. We have airline itinerary, do we need hotel reservations in place, and can they just plan on buying train tickets after arrival?

You don't need to have a contact in China to list on the visa application, or you write the address, telephone of your 21 years old son in China. You don't need to make hotel reservation in place, they can buy train tickets after arrival.

The requirements for your son to apply for L visa for visiting his brother and sightessing are:
1.A valid passport as well as a copy of its information page: Your valid passport must have at least six (6) months of remaining validity and at least one blank visa page in it.
2.Application form: One completed Visa Application Form.
3.Photo: one recent photo of 2x2 square inch (black & white or color is acceptable) glued or stapled on the application form.
4. the copy of round-trip flight tickets (USA-China-USA)
