Question

I heard that there's now a fast train (90 minutes) running from Lijiang to Dali. Is this correct ? Which one provide better scenery - taking the train or taking the bus ? If I were to take the bus from Lijiang, does the bus drop me off at Dali or Xiaguan bus station ? or does this depends upon which bus company I took ?Which bus station is more convenient to the important sights ?

There is only one train every day. It seems the bus is better. Yes, the bus srop you off at Xiaguan. There are buses almost every half a hour. Xiaguan is the city center. It is easy from there to get to other sights in Dali.
