About:Beijing South Railway Station

My wife and I will be arriving in Tianjin aboard a cruise ship and want to get to Beijing.

1) Can anyone tell me how far it is from the cruise port to the train station in Tianjin?
2) Can we purchase bullet train tickets to Beijing when we arrive at the train station or do the tickets have to be purchased in advance?
3) How far is it from the Beijing-South station to the area around the Forbidden City and what is the best way to get to a hotel near the Forbidden City?

Any other information or suggestions that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

1. Take the Bus 102 at the Xingang Stop, get off at the Tanggu Railway Station, it is the nearest railway station to the port.
2. You can take the Intercity train, the schedule:
08:29, 12:14, 13:44, 18:14, 19:59
You don't need to buy the ticket in advance.
3. You can take bus at the South Square of the railway station, the stop is called Beijing Nanzhan Stop. Take the 665 bus, get off at the Fangzhuang Qiaoxi Stop, change to the Bus 685 and get off at the Gugong Stop, there you can get to the Forbidden City. You can also take taxi to that area, it would cost about CNY20.
