About:Chinese Embasy in Ireland

Hi,

Some friends of mine are currently living in Shanghai, they are teaching english over there. I want to visit them during the Summer but have no idea about Visas and what not. Can someone please help me? What type of Visa do I need to get? Do I have to travel up to Dublin to put in my application form? Do I need to send my passport with my application? How long does it take to get a Visa and can I apply for a Visa now, eventhough I'm going to be going over in the Summer? Do I have to collect my Visa in person or can I get someone else to collect it for me, if I can get someone to collect it for me, how do I go about doing that? Also do I need to get any shots for going over? I'll be there for 10 days or so. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your time.

Kind regards,
Alexandra

You need to obtain a China Tourist Visa (L visa)for visiting friends. The visa can be applied and collected in person or through someone entrusted by applicant. You can go to Dublin to submit visa application or ask someone else to submit the application.

The single entry visa is valid for 3 months, you'd better apply for China visa 1 or 2 months before your trip to China.

Your passport is required to be provided together with other requirements:
one completed visa application form
one recent photograph for passport
two-way flight tickets
the invitation letter from your friend with the copy of his chinese residence permit and their passport
