About:China Railway Map

I am arriving in Hong Kong on the 19th December 2010 and need to be in Beijing by the 27th December. We would like to travel by sleeper train as often as possible and would like to visit the following places: Shanghai, Xian and Guilin. Can someone let me know the best route to visit these places, or advise of better places to see in between Hong Kong and Beijing.

There is no direct train from Hong Kong Guilin so I made the following four routes:
Kowloon-Guangzhou-Guilin-Xian-Shanghai-Beijing
Kowloon-Shenzhen-Guilin-Xian-Shanghai-Beijing
Kowloon-Shenzhen-Guilin -Shanghai-Xian-Beijing
Kowloon-Guangzhou-Guilin -Shanghai-Xian -Beijing
By comparison, the most economical way is Hong Kong-Shenzhen-Guilin-Shanghai-Xian-Beijing. Sleeper trains are available on this route. The transportation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen is very convenient. When you are in Guilin, I suggest you have a one-day tour to Yangshuo. It is said that ‘while the most beautiful scenery in China is in Guilin, the most fascinating part of a Guilin tour is in Yangshou'.
