About:Hainan Travel

I went to Hainan two weeks ago. I am sorry to say that it was not a great place. It is not at all unique and I am unlikely to return. There were miles and miles and miles of modern buildings and nothing culturally and visually unique. Google pictures of Hainan for yourself. Unless you have Hainanese ancestry, it is going to be difficult to get excited about this island. If you want culture, please go to Beijing or Xian. If you wan tropical beaches, please go to Bali or Hawaii. Nothing in Hainan makes it special. If you want good food, go to Guangzhou.

Frankly speaking, your comments on Hainan Island are out-of-the-truth.Hainan is characterized by clean tropical scenery, coconut palms, magnolia, precious tropical fruits, papaya, pineapples, bananas, guava, jackfruit, longan, etc. vegetables:carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, celery, leek etc. The folk culture is natives/minor nationalities,Miao,Li who lead a plain primitive life, they dance and sing to celebrate their good harvest. They have kind heart and hospitality to approach strange visitors. In the rural area, cottages, stone houses are unique, but you failed to visit them.Regarding beaches,Jade-belt Beach in Boao,Yalong Bay Beach in Sanya,Haikou, the Holiday Beach are clean, soft sand, more beautiful than that in Bali,Hawaii.Unfortunately, you failed to taste delicious food in Hainan, fish head soup,Dongshan goat mutton,Wenchang Chicken and fresh seafood are inexpensive, most seafood are transported from Zhanjiang and Hainan to Guangzhou.I would like to guide you to visit Hainan next time if you be back.Jehovah God bless you.

Dear Ms Yan,

I have lived in Singapore for 7 years and I tried to fit in, but my social fibre simply do not allow it. I have lived in China for a year and I have been more than 2 dozen cities, Dalian is my favorite city so far. the least uptight place in China.

I have been to Hainan island and this time I wanted to stay with the minority groups if it is at all possible.

In fact, if I can marry a nice Hainanese girl, I may call that home. a second home.

I have to agree,if I was a tourist looking for a tropical paradise ,good food and culture, Hainan would not be my choice either. Its dirty, the food is super bland and way inflated in price, the locals specialise in being unfriendly/aggressive to the point of violence.
As for culture if you like to watch women spitting and children peeing next to where you are eating, then your'e in luck.
Sanya is a construction zone with the most rediculous prices for seafood in china.
If you can read chinese you can serch chinese forums about how even mainland chinese get treated in Hainan
If you want culture and good food go to Yunnan province.
