About:Chengdu Travel

I'm planning a trip to Chengdu in October 2010 and intend to meet the giant pandas.

I'm told that the sanctuary in Wolong is no longer in operation and the pandas have been moved to Bifengxia Panda Reserve Base in Ya'an. Also there is a Panda Breeding Research Centre in the city of Chengdu.

Would appreciate your views on the difference between Bifengxia Reserve base and the Breeding Research Centre, in particular, the activities undertaken by the 2 centres. TQ

The difference is Chengdu Panda Breadding center is for panda research and protection (like a zoo), Bifengxia offer good care and natural living environment for the panda (like a bread ). There are more than 60 pandas in Bifengxia now. There is the only panda museum in Chengdu Breading Center. Both offer photograph service with pandas, but very expensive. Bifeng Xia is 150km from the city center, whicle Chengdu Breading center can be reached by city bus. You can see very little panda baby in Chengdu, in wooden panda housr or in incubator. Hope this helps a little.
