Plan to visit Huangdi Mausoleum and Hukou waterfall and then from there proceed to Pingyau ancient city and beyond. would like to know about bus connectivity from the mausoluem to Hukuo and Pingyuo as well as accomadations there. thanks

You can take a long distance bus from Huangdi Mausoleum to Yichuan County, from Yichuan Bus Station, there are long distance buses to Hukou Waterfall. As far as I know, there is a regular bus from Hukou to Linfen, but i'm not sure of its departure time, you are suggested to ask the local inn keeper.But my suggestion is you'd better join a tour of Huangdi Mausoleum-Hukou Waterfall-Pingyao City route, for the transportion is rather difficult.
