About:Beijing West Railway Station

Thanks again Ms Jane for the useful tips.
How did you travel around in Beijing last summer? I am with 3 other 'lao wai" guests, not sure if we will join those local tours as I have heard that you'll spend most time on the bus waiting for tourists than visiting a place. Have you seen any authentic Beijing places besides all those tourist attraction. If you know of places where mainly locals go like markets, please give me the address.

If you have been to China before, I think you could visit Beijing by yourselves of course. So did I. Otherwise, please consider asking a travel agent to arrange a private for you, by which you could decide where to go independently.

Woule like to experience local life? So, a hotel of these courtyard in a Beijing Hutong will meet your need. You could explore the nearby food market, supermarket as well as having breakfast at a local restaurant. Last summer, I stayed at a hotel in Dongsi area, a nice region.
