About:Chengdu Travel Tips

My wife, daughter and I are going to Chengdu for a week in August 2010. I need help as follows:
1 What is the most convenient and mean of transport to go around Chengdu?
2 Where are the places to go for shopping and dining?
3 Is Chengdu a safe place for tourists?
4 Is pedicab safe to ride?

Please take it easy that the secutiry condition of Chengdu is reliable. Of course, be careful of your values at these crowded streets or around railway station.

Genenrally, it is suggested that you take a cab with your families to travel in downtown area. The cost is reasonable. However, it is alway difficult to hire a cab during the traffic peak time around every 18:00~20:00. So, please avoid these period.

Dear Mr Hank,

Thank you for your advices. I will be careful with values in crowded streets and avoid flagging cabs around 1800 to 2000 hrs everyday.

One other advice I need from you: Where are the "acceptable" toilets in Chengdu?
