Mr.soh, you'd better provide your return flight ticket to prove your planned stay duration in China, if you get a L visa which allows you stay in China for 30 days, you can apply for extension of visa at the exit & enter department under the Public Security Bureau in China, in big citizes of Yunnan or Sichuan, such as Chengdu or Kunming. in small cities, there are not exit & enter department. "

many thanks for your advice. Can i confirm with u, apart from Kunming, is there any "exit & enter department under the Public Security Bureau in China" which can allow me to do the visa extension in the following places :-
Lijiang
Dali
Shangrila
Nujiang

if not, it would be very inconvenient to me to do the visa extension cos i need to travel to Kunming once the visa is expiring and i can only do this within 10days' time of expiry date and will only be able to collect it after on 5 working days even though it has been processed and completed. This is some experiences shared by fellow backpackers who has been to Yunnan. I wonder if there is any express service there which would allow me to collect it on the same or next working day if there isnt any other exit & enter dept except for Kunming.
